3 Days Rapa Nui Extreme Program

This program includes three days to visit the most famous and typical places on the island with a more adventurous touch. Besides knowing the Moai and volcanoes stories, your stay will be complemented by trekking to the top of the island, the Terevaka volcano.



Full Day Tour

In the morning the guide will meet you at hotel to begin the tour. We leave the town going to the south coast of the island making the first stop at Ahu Akahanga where you can see a platform with 12 Moai and a typical rapa nui village unrestored, remains of houses, old ovens and a small cave. Later we will continue to visit Ahu Tongariki, one of the most famous island platforms which has 15 restored Moai. Continuing the journey we will stop at the Rano Raraku volcano where we will walk approximately 1 hour for seeing more than 400 carved moai in different stages. Here you will know the history of the carved statues and also feel the energy that this place still stands.

To continue visiting this magic island we will drive to the northeast side to stop at Ahu Te Pito Kura. This place is known for having the largest Moai carved and transported (10 mts. Approx.) Also there is a perfect stone full of energy that is at the seaside and as the legend say would have been brought from Hiva by King Hotu Matu’a.

To end the day of visits we will stop at the paradise beach “Anakena” with white sands and turquoise waters, coral origin. The beach also has the Ahu Nau Nau and Ahu Ature Huki that were scenes of great discoveries.

Back to the village you can see volcanoes and vegetation that are part of the landscape of the island.

Half day tour Akivi.

We begin with the people visiting the Ahu Tahai which has 3 restored platforms and the only Moai that has eyes made of white coral.

Later we will continue to Ahu Akivi. It´s 7 Moais are facing the sea and were restored in 1960. We will continue to Puna Pau to learn more about “Pukao” or topknot. We walk to the top of a small volcano to see a crater with red scoria where the pukaos were carved. Also you will see a beautiful view of the Terevaka Volcano and Hanga Roa village.

Duration: 3 hours approx.

Half day tour Orongo.

In the afternoon we will start our visit to Ahu Vinapu to see the wall that looks like the Inca walls, called Ahu Tahira. You will see a red scoria Moai that may represent a woman with two heads.

Continuing the tour we will go to Rano Kau Volcano, which has the largest and beautiful crater on the island. The view is breathtaking and the sea surrounding make the people feel in the center of the world.

To know the latest stage in the history of the island before the arrival of Catholic missionaries we will go to the ceremonial village of Orongo. Here we can learn in detail about the Birdman competition or Tangata Manu that lasted more than 2 centuries and ended in about 1864. During this competition the representatives had to go to the islet Motu Nui in search of the first egg from Manutara bird to be proclaimed king or leader of the island for one year.

Back in the village you can enjoy a beautiful sunset, full of colors sitting at the AhuTahai or anywhere nears the sea.

Trekking to Terevaka.

The day will begin with the hike to the highest point of the island. We will leave the car at the bottom of the volcano and in about 1 hour and a half we will hike up to the top and you will enjoy a unique view of the island and also the curvature of the earth.

The climb is medium difficulty; you should go with suitable clothes and hiking shoes, sunscreen and hat. We provide you special walking sticks to climb easier.

Back in town you can walk by the streets and visiting all craft stores and you can take a souvenir of your visit.

For full day tour took lunch and a cooler with ice to keep you water, juice and snacks. To explore the caves and Terevaka we give you the best equipment like flashlights and helmets and we offer walking sticks if its needed.
